E12-Randy Fielding, Classroom Reimagined "If you build it, they will come!"

Friday, November 21.

On Wednesday, I hosted Randy Fielding, who has had a varied and distinguished career as an individual who can design things that enhance the experience. This could be a building or a concept within a building like a school. Randy is currently building a new concept, Classroom Reimagined AI, is using these principles to give school personnel a tool that you can redesign and reimagine on the fly. I eagerly await its launch in the next couple of months. All of you can watch and help to utilize the tool to add to your own redesign palate!

I have known Randy for 5-6 years. His former brainchild, Fielding International was a partner for our building and school redesign project at BBE. In addition to actually designing structures like our Socratic outdoor classroom at the elementary school to our student plaza at the high school, we also partnered with Fielding to make changes to the learning environment within the school. All of these things were done with a lens that was aimed towards familiar concepts that we are talking about right now with NewTech High--personalized, student-centered, place-based, every space is a learning space ideas.

In this two-part podcast, Fielding delves into the nexus of how educational purpose and design become part of the same dialogue. When Randy talks about AI, he reminds us of the many technological changes that have occurred. AI is going to have some large effect like the Internet or the Industrial Revolution, yet human beings have to adapt to anything disruptive in a purposeful fashion. Feel free to comment on the blog after watching the podcast! Have a great weekend!
