We had an exciting podcast with Brandon-Evansville schools this afternoon with Louisa Glenetske, Superintendent, Scott Steele, HS Counselor and Eric Schoenbauer, HS Principal. Although NewTech High is a 9-12 initiative, the work that is done clearly demonstrates that changes can be made concurrently that affect the entire school district. Brandon-Evansville is certainly one of those school districts. Not only have they been looking to reimagine their high school, but are also going through with a major grade configuration change that will put their 5-12 students in one building and their K-4 in another. Their school district shares context with many smaller school districts in that students attend school in different buildings in different towns instead of just one local site. In addition, schools like B-E also have to consider different things contextually by including multiple communities in their school systems. 

There are so many highlights from this podcast. At the top, I found it very evident that all three of these educators clearly demonstrate their own engagement with school change, and their excitement to roll these changes out. Behind the scenes of these changes lies a visioning and informing progress that allows them to have the trust in their support the changes that affect teachers, too, that help students create different futures from their current trajectory. Engagement is king! 

Also noteworthy was the testimony regarding the practice of listening to their students as part of their strategic planning process, how exciting that process was. In addition, that feedback and student voice impacted their strategic process as well as their implementation of personalized learning initiatives. 

NewTech High is really happy to be working with B-E on this personalized learning journey! Enjoy that weather!

This afternoon, we welcome Janelle Field, currently working as a Continuous Improvement Coach at Resource Training and solutions out of St. Cloud. Today's Podcast with Janelle Janelle has had a more than 30 year career in education, including working as an elementary teacher at both Rockford and BBE schools, being a lead 1:1 Tech Integrationist at BB Schools. Later, she took on the role as the Engagement coach in the district.
